About Me
I'm Cynthia James, from Sabah, Malaysia. A follower of Jesus, a Catholic, and a wayfarer. An educator by profession, a servant by calling. Forever a student. Currently trying my very best to learn how to be a writer, a storyteller, a tinkerer, a learner.
I received my early training as an ESL teacher at Kent Teachers Training College, Tuaran. After teaching for a few years, I went to pursue a Bachelor of Education (English Language) at Universiti Malaysia Sabah and then a Master of Philosophy in Education (Research in Second Language Education) at the University of Cambridge. I have taught English as a second language in three government primary schools, served as a supervisor in a district education office, and done some part-time teacher training, writing, publishing, website managing, and researching. I'm currently doing a PhD in Education at the University of Cambridge, pursuing a research on educational technology, teacher professional development in low-resource contexts, and digital + educational inequalities.
I love books, music, arts, poetry, and all things beautiful. I'm very interested in human beings from all walks of life, and the stories they have to tell.
